International Trains
There are train services from Türkiye to Bulgaria, Romania, Iran and Austria.
Only the Sofia and Tehran (TransAsia) trains run during the whole year.
The İstanbul-Sofia Express
The İstanbul-Sofia Express is in service every day between Sofia and İstanbul. The journey duration is 9 hours.
The İstanbul-Bucharest Train
The İstanbul-Bucharest train (Bosphor/Balkan Express) is in service every day between İstanbul and Bucharest via Bulgaria. The journey duration is 17-19 hours.
The Edirne-Villach Train
The Edirne-Villach train (Optima Express) is in service on scheduled days from the spring to autumn. There are also auto carrier wagons on the train. The journey duration is 31 hours.
The Optima Express and Bucharest trains run for only part of the year.
The Ankara-Tehran train (TransAsia Express)
runs once a week between Ankara and Tehran. Departures are every Wednesday from Ankara and Tehran. The journey duration is 58-60 hours. The train also stops at Tabriz in Iran.
The Van-Tabriz (Iran) Train
The train runs once a week between Van and Tabriz. Departures are every Tuesday from Van, and every Monday from Tabriz. The journey duration is 9 hours.
The train to Belgrade is currently suspended.
When conditions permit a train service will start on the recently opened Baku-Tbilisi-Kars.
